Durham Connects' mission is to increase child well-being by bridging the gap between parent needs and community resources.

FAMILIES

Congratulations on your new baby!

If you are a Durham County resident whose baby is born in Durham County, you are entitled to receive a complimentary in-home nurse visit for you and your baby.

Here’s how it works.

There is no need to register or sign up.
A Durham Connect representative will meet with you in the hospital shortly after the birth to answer questions, gather contact information and schedule your home visit for when the baby is about 3 weeks old. The visit will include a physical assessment of you and your baby and take about 1 to 1 ½ hours, so you will have plenty of time to ask questions.

Durham Connects nurses specialize in answering questions that may arise after you leave the hospital. These questions may include infant care concerns, breastfeeding issues, new parent support group referrals, childcare selection resources, back to work issues and more.

Growing secure, healthy babies is a full-time job. You are the gardener who will nurture this tiny seedling. Durham Connects can offer community nourishment to help your baby blossom into a beautiful, healthy little person.
